Hesus

Hesus is one of our head coaches and one of the most knowledgable trainers you could hope to meet! Before getting into CrossFit, 'Heez' was a dedicated Ironman-er and competitive triathlete competing in both the UK and abroad before he shifted his competitive focus and relentless work ethic to CrossFit. He competes around the country at CrossFit competitions, coaches many of our evening classes and is also our in-house nutrition specialist, heading up our bespoke nutrition coaching service and he's truly dedicated to helping people make a real and long lasting difference to their health, their bodies and their lives.

Matt

Matt has a long and varied background in sport and he brings that experience to the fore in his coaching at Real Fitness. A personal trainer for six years and a CrossFit coach for three, he's also our resident endurance specialist and coaches triathletes and runners, helping them implement strength work into their training. He also writes for a number of sports, fitness and running magazines on sports specific strength training and, outside of the gym, he's a serving Royal Marine Commando in the RMR.

If he's not in the gym he'll be running in the hills or out surfing and he uses CrossFit and strength training to remain strong and resistant to injury which enabled him to take third place finish in his first ever 100 mile run last year. He's a committed active fell runner, competing in races around the UK, and is normally tailed by his faithful dogs wherever he goes.

Collette

Hailing from South Africa, Collette was a competitive runner at school and a rower in university competing at national levels. She turned to triathlon when she moved to the UK in 2004 and has competed in all distances of triathlon from Ironman to Sprint. She has also raced in several marathons, half marathons and duathlons so she knows a thing or two about going the distance!

Coach Colls discovered CrossFit while living in London and it changed her attitude to training, nutrition and her body. Before moving north she coached at her local CrossFit gym in London before she joined the team here at Real Fitness. Besides being an experienced CrossFit coach, she also has an ante and postnatal exercise qualification and coaches our Mums and Bubs classes for women who are expecting, or have recently had children, and want to get back into fitness!

She believes that everyone can benefit from functional strength.

Rich

Rich is the gym's mobility expert with several years experience under his (weightlifting) belt coaching at a high level. He spent five years in London coaching CrossFit as well as training triathletes at a high level and has experience working with athletes of all levels, from the first time gym goer to elite athletes.

His own athletic achievements are extensive to say the least and that's why he knows what he's talking about when it comes to fitness. At one point Rich was the second highest ranked triathlete in the UK, and held first place in his age group, and after he shifted his focus to ultra endurance length events he competed in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, took fourth in the Double Ironman UK Championships and also finished a 100 mile ultramarathon in under 23 hours.

Nowadays his focus is on strength training and he's the guy in there at 4.30 am nailing the big lifts while the rest of us sleep. He's also one of our two bearded coaches, which we feel adds gravitas when he's coaching a class.

Tony

Tony is the coach with the heaviest back squat in the gym and a hard man to miss. He grew up playing rugby and represented Northumberland and the North of England up to the age of 21. He then went on to play in the national leagues for Blaydon RFC before having to call time on his rugby career due to an injury sustained out on the pitch. As an athlete, Tony's real strength is STRENGTH and he also took representative honours for javelin and hammer throw in his youth. Nowadays he's focused on powerlifting and strongman style training and does CrossFit as well to help with his cardio conditioning. 

He coaches the majority of our CrossHIIT sessions and is also the mastermind behind our StillFit classes due to his great depth of knowledge when it comes to training older people and helping them stay active, fit and healthy!

He is the other of our bearded coaches and he looks pretty fierce but wears insane, colourful training shoes which reveal his true, flamboyant self.
